Zimbabwe has intensified negotiations with aviation stakeholders in the United Arab Emirates to establish a direct flight connection between Dubai and Victoria Falls, a move aimed at strengthening international tourism flows and improving air connectivity to one of Southern Africa’s key travel destinations.
The discussions form part of broader efforts to leverage Dubai’s role as a global aviation hub to attract higher volumes of long-haul visitors to Zimbabwe, reports
The Herald, a partner of TV BRICS.
A senior delegation led by Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Isaac Annanias Moyo and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development’s Permanent Secretary Engineer Joy Makumbe has held engagement meetings with senior representatives of UAE-based aviation operators. The talks focused on the feasibility of launching a direct route linking the two countries, with Victoria Falls identified as a priority destination for the proposed connection.
The initiative builds on earlier high-level discussions between Zimbabwean officials and international airline executives aimed at improving air access and expanding tourism-driven economic growth.
The current negotiations are expected to continue through technical assessments of operational capacity and route viability, with both sides exploring conditions for a potential agreement that could be concluded in the coming months. If successful, the direct air link is anticipated to enhance tourism arrivals, strengthen trade connectivity, and support Zimbabwe’s broader strategy of integrating into global travel networks.
