Brazil becomes world’s third-largest pork exporter as shipments reach record high

Brazil has officially become the world’s third-largest exporter of pork, achieving a historic milestone that underscores the country’s growing influence in global agricultural markets, as reported by
Safras News, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to consolidated international trade data for 2025, Brazil exported a record 1.51 million tonnes of pork, surpassing previous benchmarks and securing its place among the leading suppliers of animal protein worldwide.

The country’s export volumes increased by 11.6 per cent compared with the previous year, reinforcing Brazil’s role as a key contributor to global food supply chains.

Brazil now ranks among the three largest pork-exporting nations globally. At the same time, domestic demand for pork continues to grow. Per capita consumption reached a historic high in 2025, reflecting changing consumer preferences and the growing role of pork as an affordable and widely consumed source of protein.

The industry’s expansion has also been driven by advances in productivity, animal health management, genetics, technology adoption and sustainability practices. These developments have enhanced the competitiveness of Brazilian producers and strengthened the country’s reputation in international agricultural markets.

Agricultural specialists emphasise that the latest figures demonstrate the sector’s ability to meet rising global demand while continuing to supply the domestic market. The achievement is also expected to generate broader economic benefits across rural regions, supporting employment, investment and value-added production.
