Egypt has unveiled an updated Industrial Development Strategy 2030 designed to accelerate industrial growth, boost exports, expand advanced manufacturing, and strengthen the country’s position as a leading production and trade hub across the Middle East and Africa, reports

The new strategy sets targets for industrial expansion and export growth while introducing measures to enhance competitiveness, support technological innovation, develop skilled talent, and promote sustainable industrial practices.
Officials identified seven priority manufacturing sectors that will serve as key drivers of economic transformation. These include textiles and garments, food industries, pharmaceuticals, automotive production, engineering industries, electrical equipment, and electronics manufacturing. The strategy also supports the development of emerging industries linked to renewable energy technologies, water-efficiency solutions, industrial machinery, advanced materials, and automation systems.
A major component of the programme focuses on strengthening Egypt’s transition towards green industry. New initiatives will encourage wider adoption of renewable energy sources, resource-efficient production methods, recycling technologies, and circular economy practices aimed at improving sustainability across industrial value chains.
The strategy places significant emphasis on innovation and technological modernisation. Authorities plan to expand the use of artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing technologies, and digital solutions to improve productivity, enhance product quality, and increase industrial value added.
Workforce development forms another cornerstone of the initiative. New vocational training programmes and specialised skills centres are expected to equip workers with internationally recognised technical qualifications while supporting the growth of future-orientated industries. The programmes will focus on practical industrial skills, technology adoption, communication capabilities, and workforce readiness.
Digital transformation measures are also being accelerated to improve investor services, streamline industrial procedures, modernise licensing systems, and simplify access to information. Authorities believe these reforms will improve efficiency, strengthen transparency, and create a more attractive environment for industrial investment.
Regional industrial development remains a priority under the updated roadmap. New programmes are expected to support local production clusters, encourage community-based manufacturing activities, and integrate regional economies into national supply chains, helping create new employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth across different parts of the country.
The strategy further aims to strengthen Egypt’s role in global manufacturing networks by enhancing quality standards, expanding testing and certification capabilities, and supporting the development of green and technologically advanced supply chains.
