Ethiopia opens two robotic surgery training centres with China’s support

Two specialised centres have commenced operations in Ethiopia, where surgeons will be able to receive training in performing procedures using robotic surgical systems and endoscopic technologies. This was reported by the
Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation, a TV BRICS partner.

President of Ethiopia Taye AtskeSelassie attended the opening ceremony. He stated that the introduction of advanced medical technologies is a key priority for the country and has a direct impact on improving public health.

Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai emphasised that cooperation between China and African countries in the healthcare sector continues to expand. The parties intend to strengthen collaboration in specialist training and knowledge exchange.

The China–Africa Robotic Surgery Training Centre and the China–Africa Endoscopic Technology Training Centre are expected to improve the quality of medical care and expand patients’ access to advanced healthcare technologies.
