India expands its presence in TV BRICS international media space

Ahead of the 18th BRICS Summit, which will be held in New Delhi on 12–13 September 2026, the Republic of India has expressed its intention to expand its information presence within the consolidated TV BRICS agenda.

The country’s largest national news agency and one of Asia’s most authoritative media outlets, Press Trust of India (PTI), has joined the media network’s group of partners. The cooperation agreement was signed by TV BRICS CEO and Editor-in-Chief Janna Tolstikova and PTI CEO and Editor-in-Chief Vijay Joshi.

The partners agreed to provide each other with high-quality content, assist in disseminating objective information about BRICS activities, and create and promote important interstate projects in the cultural and humanitarian, business and economic spheres.

Press Trust of India – India’s oldest news agency, established in 1947. Its headquarters are located in New Delhi. PTI covers events in the country and abroad in real time and is the main provider of breaking news for Indian media. The agency has an extensive network of correspondents across India, its own overseas bureaux and representatives in major world capitals and international business centres, including Moscow, Beijing, Bangkok, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur and Colombo. “In the year marking the 20th anniversary of BRICS, which is being held under the Chairship of the Republic of India, we are focused on strengthening relations with the participating countries of the group and partner states – across various spheres and areas of activity. Our shared commitment to the principles of BRICS and genuine mutual respect enable us to create an open media space, filled with high-quality, objective and substantive content, in-depth analysis and serious research. The professional team of PTI – India’s oldest media outlet with its extensive experience and traditions – will help us achieve this. Such an information environment is essential for building constructive international relations and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” Janna Tolstikova believes.

Today, several major media organisations in India cooperate with TV BRICS, including television channels, news agencies and periodicals: Prasar Bharati, ANI, IANS, Trinity Mirror, TV9 and Malai Murasu. The international media network’s partners in the country also include organisations in the fields of education and cinematography, film festivals, diplomatic institutions and cultural centres.

Among the BRICS participating and partner countries, the following work with TV BRICS on information exchange: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, the UAE, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia, Egypt, Belarus, Bolivia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria and Thailand.
