The country achieved its highest result in the past decade. Kazakhstan ranked first among Central Asian countries and second among 11 economies in Central and Southern Asia.

In particular, the country improved its position by 11 places in the innovation outputs sub-index. Key areas for further growth include increasing research and development spending, developing venture financing, and strengthening links between universities and business.
