ASEAN countries launch academic cooperation with BRICS via TV BRICS

The TV BRICS International Media Network connects Southeast Asia and the BRICS countries through cooperation in the fields of science and higher education. In October 2026, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam became the first of the ASEAN member states to enter into this partnership. The agreement on joint activities was signed by the TV BRICS CEO and Editor-in-Chief Janna Tolstikova and Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University (VNU-USSH) in Hanoi.

The partners agreed to promote Vietnam’s scientific and educational achievements and social projects in the global media landscape and to provide comprehensive support for strengthening international humanitarian ties within the BRICS and ASEAN frameworks.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities was established in 1995, becoming an official constituent unit of Vietnam National University in Hanoi – the country’s leading multidisciplinary centre for education and research. VNU-USSH comprises 16 faculties and a School of Journalism and Communication. Today, around 11,000 undergraduates and postgraduates are studying there. The university offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes that meet international standards. VNU-USSH’s mission is to train highly qualified professionals and to contribute to national development and international integration.

Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS, emphasised that interaction between university communities and academic cooperation play an important role in improving the quality and accessibility of education worldwide, as well as in technological progress, the sustainable development of various countries and inclusive economic growth. She expressed her confidence that the partnership with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities would introduce TV BRICS’s audience to in-depth knowledge of Vietnam and the wisdom of Asia. Janna Tolstikova noted that the media network is consistently working to bring together the national expertise of the BRICS+ countries with the aim of creating a unified analytical landscape and invited VNU-USSH to participate in the preparation of sector-specific studies, which are published exclusively on the media network’s platforms and generate widespread public and professional interest.

Earlier, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) began working with TV BRICS in the republic. In Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand also collaborate with the media network in the field of mass communications.

TV BRICS’ partners in the fields of science and higher education include more than 30 institutions from Brazil, Vietnam, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Ethiopia, Cuba, and Nepal, including members of the BRICS Network University.
