Russia exports canned sardines to Thailand for first time

Russia exported around 97 tonnes of tinned sardines to Thailand, worth approximately US$445,000, over an eight-month period in 2026. This was reported by the federal centre Agroexport, a partner of TV BRICS.

“This is the first time such a shipment has taken place in the history of records,” the statement reads.

According to Agroexport, Russia supplied other types of tinned fish to Thailand in 2025. These included salmonid products, excluding salmon, as well as prepared or preserved products made from herring and other fish.

It was previously reported that exports of Russian products to Thailand had increased by 71.3 per cent in the first half of 2026. Russia began supplying copper ores and concentrates, resumed wheat supplies, and increased shipments of fur raw materials and unprocessed aluminium. Trade turnover between the two countries rose by 32 per cent.
