Nigeria launches trade intelligence tools to boost exports and investment

Nigeria has launched its 2026 Trade Intelligence Tools to strengthen exports, attract investment and improve the competitiveness of domestic businesses. The initiative was inaugurated in Abuja by Jumoke Oluwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, who said the tools would provide exporters with information on potential markets, tariffs and international trade requirements, reports News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a partner of TV BRICS.

The initiative supports the Federal Government’s target of building a US$1 trillion economy by 2030 under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. According to Oluwole, the tools consolidate trade policies and institutional activities into practical intelligence to support investment, industrial development and international market access.

The minister reported that capital importation increased from approximately US$3.9 billion in 2023 to more than US$23 billion in 2025, while exports reached around 12 trillion naira. Nigerian products are now supplied to more than 120 countries, and intra-African trade grew by 21 per cent in 2025. She emphasised that trade and industrial policies should translate economic stability into higher production, competitiveness, employment and sustainable growth.

Oluwole called on government agencies to integrate the new tools into their work, improve access to reliable trade information and monitor implementation through measurable results.

Chris Isokpunwu, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to trade, investment and industrial development, noting that the tools would improve access to information and support business competitiveness.
