Russia has taken first place in the list of countries exporting fish and seafood to China, supplying over 960,000 tonnes of produce worth more than US$3.3 billion in the first nine months of 2026. This was reported by the federal centre Agroexport, a partner of TV BRICS.
It is noted that, compared with the same period last year, Russian exports increased by 20 per cent by weight and 53 per cent in value. According to data from China’s General Administration of Customs, the list of the most popular types of Russian seafood includes frozen pollock (US$1 billion), live, fresh or chilled crabs (US$965 million), frozen cod (around $577 million), frozen herring (around US$160 million), and frozen haddock (over US$131 million).
Ecuador is the second-largest supplier of fish to China (over $2.8 billion), with Vietnam in third place (around US$1.5 billion).
According to Agroexport, Russia’s export revenue from agricultural exports to China has reached a historic high. Between January and mid-October 2026, Russia exported nearly 9 million tonnes of agricultural products to China, worth around US$7.8 billion, the highest figure on record.
The top five most sought-after Russian products include frozen fish, rapeseed oil, crustaceans, soya beans and pulses.
