The speakers noted that Russia always standed for an equal and respectful dialogue with its partners
The Russian House in Mumbai hosted an international conference “BRICS: Towards a Global Centre of Power” dedicated to Russia’s chairmanship in the association. This is reported by
TASS.
The event was also organised by the Centre for Jewish Studies of the University of Mumbai and the humanitarian organisation Shailendra Education Society.
According to Elena Remizova, director of the Russian House, the conference was held in a mixed format, participants could attend the event in person or join it online. She noted that the event was followed in five countries of the world. Thirty professors from universities in India, Russia, Egypt, UAE and Tajikistan presented their papers.
The speakers noted that the Russian Federation always standed for an equal and respectful dialogue with partners, and the accession of new members to BRICS also means the expansion of partnership contacts. The participants of the event discussed various issues on the agenda of the alliance, including security, economic issues, deepening cultural and educational ties within the alliance.
Professor Shoaib Khan from Mumbai University noted that the BRICS expansion looks very symbolic against the backdrop of many countries’ aspirations to reform the world order to take into account the interests of the global South.
According to Elena Remizova, the Russian House in Mumbai is planning to organise several more conferences related to Russia’s BRICS chairmanship.
