The Abu Dhabi Registration Authority has reported significant expansion in the agriculture, fisheries and livestock sector during recent months of 2025.
According to the
Emirates News Agency (WAM), the media partner of TV BRICS, Abu Dhabi recorded substantial growth in this sector during the first nine months of 2025. New licences rose by 29 per cent compared with the previous year, reaching 152, while the number of active licences increased by 13.5 per cent, totalling 1,425 by the end of September 2025.
Data shows that Al Ain accounted for the largest share of new agricultural licences, representing 61.8 per cent of all licences issued in the emirate. This emphasises the region’s key role in supporting sectoral development. Continued expansion is expected as the number of permitted on-farm activities has increased to 145 economic activities, including agricultural, industrial and recreational operations.
Commenting on the sector’s progress, Mohammed Muneef Al Mansoori, Director General of ADRA, highlighted that government and sector-driven initiatives are advancing the shift towards smart and sustainable agriculture. These measures, he noted, are strengthening food security and supporting sustainable economic development in the emirate.
In parallel with Abu Dhabi’s growth, BRICS countries are also recording progress in the livestock and fisheries sectors. Member states are intensifying efforts to expand exports of animal and fish products to new markets, making use of modern smart-farming technologies and environmental sustainability innovations.
According to
Sada El-Balad Network, the media partner of TV BRICS, Egypt is working towards achieving self-sufficiency in meat within the next five years as part of its broader strategy to support the agricultural sector and boost national exports.
This work aligns with Egypt’s agricultural strategy under the “Egypt Vision 2030” framework, which prioritises financial support to farmers through soft loans, subsidised fertilisers, technical assistance and agricultural extension services, as well as the adoption of modern cultivation and irrigation practices.
Ethiopia also recently announced revenues of US$120 million from the export of meat and by-products during the past Ethiopian fiscal year. The
Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), a media partner of TV BRICS, reported that this increase resulted from continued efforts to enhance livestock production and improve returns from the livestock sector. These efforts include developing local breeds, training skilled personnel and ensuring the quality of exported products.
Meanwhile, the Indian state of Gujarat is experiencing significant progress in the fisheries sector. This growth is supported by record-high production and export volumes, along with strategic government investments aimed at upgrading marine infrastructure and reinforcing the state’s role within India’s blue economy.
ANI, a media partner of TV BRICS, noted that the state’s fish exports increased from approximately US$75 million in 2001 to more than US$715 million in the 2023–2024 financial year, marking nearly tenfold growth.
