Abu Dhabi successfully implements new blood clot removal technology
Doctors in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, have successfully performed a procedure to remove blood clots using an innovative vacuum device. This is reported by the
Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.
The new device, which uses vacuum technology, is designed to remove dangerous blood clots from large veins, including those leading to the heart and lungs. The procedure is performed in a minimally invasive manner through a catheter, which reduces the risk of complications compared to traditional open-heart surgery.
The operation was performed on a 70-year-old female patient who was in serious condition and suffered from a number of serious diseases, including hypertension, chronic kidney disease, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeats).
According to representatives of the medical institution, the new technology provides gentle and effective removal of blood clots thanks to its design with a nitinol basket mechanism and an expandable funnel tip. This allows large blood clots to be removed with minimal blood loss.
