The trial of ActionSA’s Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate and media personality, Xolani Khumalo, has been postponed to the 23rd of April 2026 at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg.
Khumalo and his co-accused face charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and pointing a firearm.
The charges relate to a December 2025 incident in Katlehong during an anti-drug operation.
Khumalo is accused of assaulting complainant Bongani Radebe and pointing a firearm at him.
He later handed himself over to the police in January this year.
During court proceedings today, Radebe testified about the events of the day in question. However, under cross-examination, his version appeared to weaken.
He conceded that a slap would not have caused serious injuries and told the court he did not see Khumalo assault him.
The court has heard that Radebe allegedly had serious injuries, including internal bleeding, following the drug bust.
The defence, led by advocate Zola Majavu, argues that Khumalo was part of a police-led operation at the time and did not enter the premises where the alleged assault took place.
Khumalo and his co-accused have pleaded not guilty.
