Advisor to Editor-in-Chief of MENA: BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro to be historic event



According to him, the event will provide an opportunity to discuss the goals of the group

MENA, a partner of TV BRICS, said that the upcoming BRICS summit, which will be held on 6 and 7 July in Rio de Janeiro, is of great importance due to the expansion of the group and the participation of new states.

“BRICS is currently developing rapidly thanks to the active participation of new member countries. The composition of the alliance has expanded with the inclusion of five countries. There are also many partners participating in the group’s activities,” he said.

Osman noted that the importance of the summit is confirmed by objective indicators: according to him, the BRICS countries occupy about a quarter of the landmass, and their economies account for about 40 per cent of the world’s economy. He also stressed that at the meeting in Brazil, the leaders of more than 20 states and governments intend to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the countries of the Global South.

The adviser added that the summit will provide an opportunity to discuss the achievement of BRICS goals aimed at realising the aspirations of the peoples of these countries and promoting sustainable development both for the states of the association themselves and for the global community as a whole.
