The second African Climate Summit has concluded in Ethiopia. The main outcome of the meeting was the adoption of the Addis Ababa Declaration on Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development, reports
Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of TV BRICS.
It is noted that the document enshrined the desire of African countries to expand their own climate initiatives and to achieve equitable financing. The declaration also contains a call for international support for the “Great Green Wall” project, aimed at combating desertification, and the African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative.
Country leaders emphasised the key role of nature-based approaches. They paid particular attention to the Ethiopian Green Legacy initiative, calling it a model for the entire continent.
At the same time, a report on climate projects of African states was presented, and the Africa Climate Innovation Compact was adopted – a new document for promoting sustainable solutions.
