Following the Fifth Meeting of Presidents of the Member States of the Amazon Cooperation Treaty (ACT), held in Bogota, Colombia, heads of state issued a joint declaration, reaffirming their countries’ commitment to multilateral cooperation in addressing the Amazon’s climate, social, environmental, and economic challenges.

Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS, key discussions focused on integrating scientific knowledge with Indigenous wisdom, and advancing concrete actions to combat the climate crisis.
Leaders also stressed the importance of strengthening dialogue between governments and Amazonian peoples through the Amazonian Indigenous Peoples’ Mechanism (MAPI), aiming to give Indigenous communities a stronger voice in shaping regional policy.
The presidents endorsed the creation of a financial mechanism, intended to boost international cooperation for the protection of the Amazon, and expressed strong support for the Tropical Forests Forever Fund (TFFF), which will finance long-term forest conservation.
