An African National Congress (ANC) delegation is expected to visit the family of the late Cape Town Mayor and struggle veteran, Theresa Solomon in Newlands on Sunday.
Solomon died last week at the age of 79.
She served as Cape Town Mayor from 1996 to 1998.
Solomon was a respected anti-apartheid stalwart.
She made history as the first black female mayor of the city when she served as Mayor.
She was also active in civic movements, including the Black Women’s Organisation and the Cape Areas Housing Action Committee.
Solomon later served as South Africa’s High Commissioner to both Tanzania and Canada.
