Athletes from Russia and China to run across Amur River bridge in Heihe Marathon

A unique sporting event will take place on the Russia–China border on 6 September – the Russian-Chinese Cross-Border Marathon Series, which includes the Heihe Marathon. This is reported by
Dongbeiwang, a TV BRICS partner.

The programme features four races: the classic marathon (42.195 km), a half marathon (21.0975 km), a mass run open to all, and a 10-kilometre race across the cross-border bridge over the Amur River. The latter holds particular significance, as athletes will cross the border between the two countries and finish on Russian territory at the Kanikurgan checkpoint. This marks the first marathon in China to include a cross-border stage.

Up to 1,000 participants will be able to run the marathon, 1,500 the half marathon, and 1,500 the mass race, while the cross-border event will be limited to 120 athletes from each side. Registration is open from 15 to 24 August.

The marathon is organised by the Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Bureau, the Ministry of Sport of Russia’s Amur Region, and the People’s Government of Heihe City.
