Belarus and UAE forge agreement on trade in services and investment
The document includes the creation of an Investment Subcommittee
Belarus and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed an intergovernmental agreement on trade in services and investment activities. The document was signed by Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Natalya Petkevich and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
The agreement aims to establish a framework for trade in services, promote investment activity, and expand bilateral trade. It includes mutual guarantees of transparent and stable conditions for trade in services, with clearly defined terms of operation across various sectors in line with national legislation. This is reported by
BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS.
Additional mechanisms for cooperation in investment are introduced, including the creation of an Investment Subcommittee. The agreement is expected to significantly benefit both parties and strengthen economic ties.
Until now, Belarus had only concluded similar agreements within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). A comparable agreement has also been signed with China, pending enforcement.
Belarus is the first EAEU member state to sign such a deal with the UAE. Furthermore, a broader economic partnership agreement between the EAEU and UAE is also planned to be signed in Minsk.
