Belarus cancels visa requirements for Iranian nationals

Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko has ordered the abolition of visa requirements for Iranian citizens entering the country, according to Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Reza Salehi-Amiri. The announcement came during discussions in Minsk between Salehi-Amiri and the President of Iran, as reported by
Alalam News Network, a partner of TV BRICS.

“A new chapter in relations has been opened with the state of Belarus, and it has been decided to establish direct flights between Tehran and Minsk and to increase the number of visas to Belarus for Iranians,” stated the Iranian Minister of Tourism.

The decision to waive visa requirements for Iranian nationals is aimed at easing travel for tourists and facilitating cultural exchange. Iran had previously also abolished visas for Belarusian citizens.

The Iranian Minister of Tourism hailed the move as a significant step towards developing the tourism industry and strengthening cultural ties between Tehran and Minsk.

“One of the most important agreements during this visit was the removal of the obstacle to issuing visas by order of the President of the Republic of Belarus, which is a radical shift in expanding tourism operations. The issue of establishing direct flights between Tehran and Minsk, which, along with the abolition of visas, are key factors for the development of tourism and cultural exchanges, was also approved. These steps will not only facilitate tourist access but will also create a suitable ground for mutual acquaintance between peoples and strengthening cultural ties,” he stated.

Officials believe that with the removal of visa barriers and the establishment of direct flights, relations between Iran and Belarus will witness a noticeable leap in tourism and cultural cooperation.
