Belarus confirms readiness for cooperation in BRICS in three areas

Deputy Foreign Ministers of Russia and Belarus discussed the use of NDB mechanisms for the implementation of investment projects in the association

First Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergey Lukashevich met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in Moscow. The dialogue focused on strengthening ties between the countries in BRICS, where the republic has entered as a partner state since January 1, 2025. This is reported by the
press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The parties discussed the modalities of Belarus’ participation in the activities of the association. Lukashevich also stated Minsk’s readiness to actively engage in the BRICS work in three key areas: politics and security, economy and finance, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties.

The deputy ministers paid special attention to the improvement of the international monetary and financial system and the use of mechanisms of the New Development Bank for the implementation of investment projects in the BRICS area.

According to the
Russian Foreign Ministry, Ryabkov and Lukashevich reaffirmed their willingness to deepen cooperation in the association to form a more fair and equitable multipolar system of international cooperation.

After the talks, Lukashevich also took part in a solemn event on the occasion of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, which was held at the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre.
