Belarus–Russia trade may exceed US$70 billion in 2026

Trade between Belarus and Russia may exceed US$70 billion by the end of 2026. The forecast was made by Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov, according to BelTA, a TV BRICS partner.

“For comparison, our trade with China currently stands at around US$240 billion. This comparison clearly demonstrates the depth of our integration ties with Belarus,” the diplomat added.

According to him, Belarusian exports are growing, with Russia remaining the main market: food products, petrochemicals, agricultural and construction machinery, and public transport. Settlements are conducted almost entirely in national currencies, which protects trade from exchange-rate fluctuations.

Gryzlov emphasised that Belarus is Russia’s closest ally and main strategic partner. The Union State remains the central area of cooperation, while the formula “Two states – one economy” is particularly evident at present.

Earlier, Russia and Belarus signed a memorandum on the construction of the Moscow–Minsk high-speed railway.
