Belarusian President calls BRICS and SCO membership a powerful tool for expanding global engagement
Aleksander Lukashenko emphasised the need to enter the markets of the BRICS partner states
BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) offer unique frameworks for cooperation with countries shaping the future global order, Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko stated during a meeting with heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions, according to
BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS.
Among these nations, he named Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, the UAE, Egypt, and others.
“Last year, we provided you (the heads of Belarusian diplomatic missions – Ed.) with additional powerful tools for engagement on the far arc: membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and a partnership with BRICS. These are significant achievements resulting from years of systematic foreign policy efforts.”

He added that Belarus has already adopted national strategies for engagement with both organisations.
The Belarusian President also emphasised that the country now has a platform for collaboration with BRICS partners such as Nigeria, Malaysia, Thailand, and more.
“Their political doors are open to us. We must take advantage of this and break into their markets,” he said.
Belarus became a BRICS partner country in January 2025 and joined the SCO as a full member in 2024.
