Brazil and Chile have agreed to deepen cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), with plans to create a large language model tailored to South America’s cultural and linguistic characteristics.

The partnership was discussed during a meeting between the two nations’ science and technology leaders, focusing on ethical AI development, data security, and regional sovereignty.

Building AI systems that reflect Latin America’s unique identity while promoting innovation and inclusion in technology is of importance, as reported by the official 
website of the Brazilian Government. The collaboration will include joint research initiatives and knowledge-sharing to strengthen the region’s position in AI development.

Both countries also highlighted the need to increase diversity in tech fields, particularly encouraging more women to pursue careers in science and technology.
