Brazil and India have signed a new cooperation agreement to strengthen vaccine production and technological innovation in the field of immunisation. The accord was formalised during a visit by Brazilian government representatives to New Delhi.
According to the
Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, the partnership focuses on enhancing research and development of viral and bacterial vaccines, with an emphasis on joint studies, technology transfer, and knowledge exchange. It also supports Brazil’s efforts to expand its capacity to produce vaccines domestically, reducing external dependence and ensuring a stable supply for the national immunisation system.
The initiative aims to promote cooperation in scientific and technical areas related to vaccine production, encourage shared research projects, and foster an environment that supports innovation and the creation of new immunisation technologies. It also includes plans to evaluate new vaccine formulations and strengthen epidemiological monitoring through joint studies.
Government officials highlighted that the agreement represents a key step towards technological sovereignty in public health.
