Brazil’s Ministry of Communications has
announced a 50 per cent expansion of its Carreta Digital programme, which delivers advanced technology and professional training to public-school students.
With an additional investment of approximately US$1.5 million, implemented by the Brazilian Network for Certification, Research and Innovation, the initiative will now reach around 8,000 new students in Rio de Janeiro, Paraiba and Pernambuco.
The project is already in operation in Rio Grande do Sul, Maranhao, Mato Grosso do Sul and the Federal District.
The Brazilian authorities highlighted that the Carreta Digital programme brings mobile laboratories to public schools, equipped with 3D printers, robotics kits, and high-performance computer technology. The scheme offers free digital inclusion and professional training courses, ranging from robotics and computer assembly to mobile phone repair.
Since its launch in 2024, the initiative has delivered nearly 9,000 training sessions across four states and the Federal District, with a total investment of approximately US$3 million, according to the Ministry.
