The 10th BRICS Young Scientists Forum is being held in the Brazilian capital. It has brought together researchers and entrepreneurs from the group’s member countries to showcase innovative solutions in science, technology and sustainable development. This was reported on the Republic’s Government website.
It is noted that the main goal of the forum is to support scientific projects with a real social impact. This year, three key topics are being discussed: mitigating the effects of and adapting to climate change, scientific diplomacy, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for social solutions.
The Head of the Brazilian delegation, Adriana Thome, emphasised the importance of the event.
“We can propose topics that are important for our scientific and technological cooperation: the climate agenda in the context of preparations for the UN Climate Change Conference, artificial intelligence, which is currently the subject of active discussion, and scientific diplomacy from the perspective of cooperation between countries of the Global South,” she said.
The Head of the Russian delegation, Albina Kutuzova, called the selected topics particularly relevant and in demand in Russia. In turn, Indian representative Nagabupati Mohan noted the high level of organisation.
“We saw a large number of events, the organisers did an excellent job – from planning to implementation,” he said.
The Head of the South African delegation, Tebogo Modiba, said that the forum helps to strengthen ties within BRICS, opening up opportunities for further prosperity in the Global South countries.
The previous Young Scientists Forum was held in November 2024 in Russia.
