Brazil recorded its highest-ever oil production in June 2026, with daily output reaching 4.475 million barrels, while natural gas production continued to expand, strengthening the country’s position among major global energy producers.
According to consolidated data from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, Brazil’s combined oil and gas production totalled 5.842 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) during the month, as reported by
Brasil 247, a TV BRICS.
Oil production increased by 4 per cent compared with May 2026 and was 19.1 per cent higher than in June 2025. Natural gas output reached 217.35 million cubic metres per day, rising 5.5 per cent month on month and 19.7 per cent year on year.
The pre-salt region remained the main contributor to Brazil’s energy production, accounting for 82 per cent of the country’s total oil and gas output.
Production from pre-salt fields reached 4.788 million boe/d, increasing by 4.2 per cent compared with May and by 24 per cent over the same period in 2025.
The area’s 198 active wells produced around 3.699 million barrels of oil and 173.19 million cubic metres of natural gas per day.
Offshore operations continued to dominate Brazil’s energy sector, accounting for 98.1 per cent of oil production and 87.6 per cent of natural gas extraction. Across the country, Brazil had 6,579 producing wells, including 608 offshore and 5,971 onshore facilities.
Brazil maintained a 97 per cent natural gas utilisation rate in June, with 64.36 million cubic metres per day supplied to the market.
Gas flaring reached 6.63 million cubic metres per day, increasing by 12.9 per cent compared with May and 10.1 per cent year on year.
Brazil’s record output highlights the continued expansion of its offshore energy sector and the growing contribution of pre-salt resources to national energy production.
