Brazil secures sixth spot in G20 growth rankings

Brazil’s economic performance during the second quarter has earned it the sixth position among G20 nations that have reported their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) results, according to data released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. This is reported by
Toda Palavra, a partner of TV BRICS.

The Brazilian GDP, representing the total value of goods and services produced nationally, has risen by 3.2 per cent over the past 12 months. This represents a 2.2 per cent increase compared to the corresponding period last year. However, more recent figures point to a deceleration, with quarter-on-quarter growth registering at 0.4 per cent.

An assessment by the Ministry of Finance’s Economic Policy Secretariat placed Brazil sixth out of 16 G20 countries that have so far unveiled their GDP figures for the quarter concluding in June. This ranking applies both to the 12-month cumulative growth and to the comparison with the second quarter of last year.
