The Brazilian Ministry of Transport has unveiled the National Logistics Plan up to 2050. The document will set out priorities for the country’s transport infrastructure over the coming decades. This was reported on the ministry’s

The authorities intend to modernise existing infrastructure, expand key transport routes and eliminate logistical bottlenecks that may arise against a backdrop of growing freight volumes and exports, particularly of raw materials.
One of the plan’s main objectives will be to expand multimodal transport – the use of several modes of transport within a single logistics chain. This should improve the efficiency of moving passengers and freight both within the country and to external markets.
A total of 31 priority areas have been identified: 12 relate to road transport, 8 to rail, 4 to waterborne transport and 7 to multimodal transport.
The implementation of the National Logistics Plan is expected to contribute to the development of transport infrastructure and enhance Brazil’s competitiveness against the backdrop of economic growth and expanding foreign trade, the statement notes.
