Brazilian expert calls upcoming BRICS summit opportunity for trade and investment growth
Professor believes that the summit will help establish mutually beneficial partnerships
The BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro will be a key platform for strengthening cooperation between the countries of the association, which is particularly relevant given the recent accession of new states to the group. This was stated by Rafael Dias, head of the International Relations Department at the University of Campinas (Brazil) and professor at the Faculty of Applied Sciences, in an exclusive interview with TV BRICS.
In his opinion, the expansion of BRICS membership has opened up new opportunities for cooperation aimed at overcoming common challenges and developing mutually beneficial partnerships. Dias also noted that the summit will contribute to significant progress in trade and economic cooperation and attracting investment, as well as simplify the process of concluding agreements between the countries of the association.
The expert called the coordination of positions on reforming the global governance system an important task of the meeting.
“I see this BRICS summit as a real opportunity to discuss issues that contribute to the deepening of scientific and technical cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, renewable energy, food and energy security, adaptation to climate change, combating new diseases and pandemics, building sustainable societies, and other areas of common interest,” Dias said.
He added that these areas require the development of new technologies and open the way for BRICS countries to build a common future.
“In an ever-changing world, unity can demonstrate that multipolarity can be an inclusive force, creating new opportunities for bringing peoples closer together for a better future for all of humanity,” the expert added.
The BRICS summit will take place in Rio de Janeiro on 6–7 July and will be the main event of Brazil’s presidency of the association.
