The Brazilian government is launching AgroAmigo, a new rural microcredit programme designed to support low-income family farmers in the North and Central-West regions of the country. This is reported by
Brasil247, a partner of TV BRICS.
The initiative aims to reduce poverty, combat hunger, and address regional inequalities. The official launch is scheduled to take place in Brasilia.
The project aims to reach over 100,000 families by offering preferential terms: annual interest rates of 0.5 per cent, repayment periods of up to three years, and an on-time payment bonus that can reach 40 per cent.
The financing covers both operating costs and investments in productive infrastructure, such as the construction of reservoirs and warehouses, irrigation systems, pasture recovery, livestock acquisition, small-scale agro-industries, and the purchase of inputs like seeds, fertilisers, and animal feed.
