BRICS New Development Bank Governors approve Uzbekistan’s accession
Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Dilma Rousseff, Head of the New Development Bank (NDB), who arrived in Tashkent to participate in an international investment forum. The talks focused on expanding cooperation between the republic and the multilateral financial institution, according to the
press service of the Uzbekistan’s President.
At the meeting, the parties noted the active implementation of the agreements reached in October 2024 at the BRICS summit. In particular, the NDB Board of Governors agreed to Uzbekistan joining the bank’s member countries.
It is noted that a programme of priority joint projects worth US$5 billion has already been formed. Priority has been given to initiatives in the areas of irrigation system modernisation, mining industry development, private sector support, and the promotion of public-private partnership projects in education and infrastructure.
Mirziyoyev stressed the need for a swift transition to the practical implementation of these projects.
