BRICS Parliamentary Forum is scheduled to be held in autumn 2024

On Thursday, 28 September, Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko in a video message to the participants of the Ninth BRICS Parliamentary Forum announced the venue of the next such event. She said that the Tenth BRICS Parliamentary Forum should be held in autumn 2024 in St. Petersburg, as reported by RIA Novosti.

In addition, addressing the participants of the current BRICS Parliamentary Forum, Matvienko called for support for the new countries of the group, which will be officially admitted to the bloc on 1 January 2024. She noted that this work cannot do without the active participation of the entire parliamentary community.

Specific dates for the next BRICS Parliamentary Forum will be agreed upon with colleagues through diplomatic channels. This event will be an important step in strengthening cooperation among the BRICS countries and creating a favourable platform for discussing topical issues and developing strategic partnerships.

The Tenth BRICS Parliamentary Forum will be held in conjunction with the BRICS Leaders’ Summit in Kazan, which is scheduled for October 2024. Yury Ushakov, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation for International Affairs, was elected Chairman of the Organising Committee for the preparation and support of the event.

The Ninth BRICS Parliamentary Forum is taking place in South Africa.
