Within the framework of the 4th BRICS RI International Conference, India hosted two days of high-level discussions on the theme “BRICS Multilateralism: Peace & Security, Economic Development & Cultural Exchanges.”
Speakers underscored that the forum provides the Indian community with an opportunity to help shape the agenda of the forthcoming BRICS Summit, ensuring that it reflects both national priorities and the collective vision of the group. TV BRICS served as the official information partner of the conference.
Shri Dammu Ravi, India’s BRICS Sherpa, reflected on India’s evolving role within the group and emphasised the importance of building consensus on shared priorities ahead of the 2026 summit.
Economic development and co-operation emerged as a core focus of the dialogue. The discussions highlighted flagship initiatives such as the New Development Bank and intra-BRICS trade, assessing their impact on global economic balance.
Fulufhelo Netswera, Head of the BRICS Research Institute and TV BRICS expert, addressed energy consumption, carbon emissions, and efficiency in BRICS+ countries.
Throughout the two days, discussions highlighted the group’s growing role in promoting a more equitable international order and its call for engagement in global institutions such as the United Nations, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank to ensure better representation of developing nations. This idea was previously voiced during the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, where leaders called for strengthening multilateralism to ensure equitable global development.
Experts believe that the outcomes of the conference will contribute to shaping policy recommendations and academic discourse ahead of the BRICS Summit in 2026.
