Chile achieves record export growth in first half of 2025
Growth was driven by the mining and agricultural sectors
Chile achieved a historic milestone in exports during the first half of 2025, reaching a record US$52.8 billion in goods shipments, a 6.7 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024. This was reported by
El Ciudadano, a partner of TV BRICS.
This is the highest figure ever recorded, according to the Undersecretariat for International Economic Relations (SUBREI), based on data from the Central Bank and the National Customs Service.
Under-Secretary Claudia Sanhueza highlighted that this performance reflects the resilience of Chile’s export, affirming the government’s commitment to identifying new opportunities through trade agreements, reducing non-tariff barriers, and boosting international promotion.
The mining and agricultural sectors were key drivers of growth. Mining led the way with US$29.6 billion in shipments, up 8.3 per cent from the previous year, largely due to exports of copper concentrate, gold, and molybdenum, offsetting a decline in lithium value. Fresh fruit exports totalled US$5.614 billion, fuelled by cherries, avocados, nectarines, apples, and other varieties.
Other sectors also experienced solid growth. Forestry-related manufacturing grew by 3.4 per cent, reaching US$3.1 billion, driven by products like pulp, boards, furniture, and paper. Bottled wine exports rose by 2.2 per cent, totalling US$622 million.
According to Sanhueza, the government remains focused on diversifying trade relations and sectors, projecting 2025 to be one of Chile’s strongest export years in terms of both volume and market variety.
