Chile launches AI training programme for future teachers

Chile has launched its first artificial intelligence (AI) training programme for future teachers, equipping 600 pedagogy students from four state universities with essential digital skills. This is reported by

Developed by the Ministry of Science, the initiative aims to integrate AI-driven tools into education, enhancing teaching and learning experiences.

President Gabriel Boric highlighted the transformative impact of AI on education, emphasising the need for collaboration between public and private sectors. Minister of Science Aisen Etcheverry underscored the programme’s rapid implementation, ensuring trained teachers will be ready this year.

The 45-hour virtual course, taught by AI specialists, covers AI applications in education, predictive analytics, personalised learning, and digital resource development. Education Minister Nicolas Cataldo stressed the importance of adapting teaching methods to the digital era while maintaining the human element.

By empowering educators with AI expertise, Chile is positioning itself as a leader in educational innovation, ensuring future generations are prepared for the digital economy, the expert claims.
