Cooperation in the field of culture and education based on mutual understanding and respect will help strengthen friendship between peoples and create new opportunities for cultural and educational exchange in BRICS. This was stated by Zhang Jingxuan, Director of the World Museum of Music and Culture in Dalian, China, for TV BRICS.

According to him, museums are currently an important bridge of mutual understanding between states.

“By cooperating with Russia and other countries, we are planning to create a whole cluster of museums with exhibitions on the history of pianos, vinyl records and music boxes. They will become cultural centres reflecting the rich musical heritage,” he said.

Zhang Jingxuan said his institution is endeavouring to implement the innovative “Museum+” model by developing projects such as the Oriental Music Port and the World Music Cultural City. The country is also actively cooperating with Russia, in particular with the Russian National Museum of Music and the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

“In April 2024, our museum in China hosted an exhibition dedicated to [Russian composer Pyotr] Tchaikovsky. We also regularly bring China’s musical heritage to Russia. This strengthens cultural ties between our countries,” the Director of the institution emphasised.

In addition, he spoke about participation in the International Museum Festival 2025 organised by the Russian Ministry of Culture. Zhang Jingxuan believes that this event is of key importance for cultural exchange.

The World Museum of Music and Culture in Dalian was opened in 2018. According to the director, it is China’s first national institution that connects Western and Chinese music culture. It has 10 main exhibition areas and a collection of over 12,000 artefacts, more than 300,000 vinyl records and hundreds of thousands of music documents.
