China has called for greater international cooperation in developing biosphere reserves, emphasising the need to balance economic progress with environmental protection. This is reported by

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 5th World Congress of Biosphere Reserves in Hangzhou, Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang stressed that China had strengthened its own conservation system while also taking an active role in international climate action.
Ding Xuexiang outlined four priorities for future international cooperation: advancing joint international initiatives; promoting scientific and technological collaboration; adopting comprehensive approaches to climate response, biodiversity and human wellbeing; and defending multilateralism by improving global governance mechanisms.
Ding also expressed China’s readiness to expand cooperation with UNESCO in education, science, heritage protection and environmental initiatives.
