The need to establish the New Era China–BRICS Science and Technology Innovation Incubation Park to support the transformation of scientific and technological innovation outcomes was stated by President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping at the 15th BRICS Summit, which took place from 22 to 24 August 2023 in South Africa.

Over the two years of the park’s operation, systematic work has been carried out to develop four key platforms: basic services, innovation incubation, scientific and technological cooperation, and technology transfer.

During the three-day event in Xiamen, guests and speakers raised issues related to the complementarity of sectoral advantages, exchanges of young and established specialists, coordination within the cooperation network, and new models for forming a transnational incubation ecosystem.

A separate topic of discussion was the need for information support for BRICS activities in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship, including analytical materials, issues of technological security, and sustainable development.

The BRICS Incubation Park network includes more than 40 partner organisations and experts from 11 countries. An International Expert Advisory Council has also been established.

On the first day of the forum, representatives of scientific, medical, technological, and other organisations from Iran, China, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Ethiopia, Belarus, and Russia signed agreements on the inclusion of new members in the innovation park’s cooperation network for BRICS scientific and innovation projects.

During the events in Xiamen, a cooperation agreement was signed between the TV BRICS International Media Network and the Tan Kah Kee High Technology Research Institute. The agreement was signed by CEO of TV BRICS Janna Tolstikova and Vice President of the institute Zhang Dianhui. At the forum venue, TV BRICS was represented by Executive Producer Kristina Muravyova.

Today, the media network’s partners in the field of science and higher education include more than 30 major institutions from Russia, Brazil, India, China, South Africa, and Iran, including members of the BRICS Network University, as well as the Indian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, the Group for International Cooperation of Brazilian Universities (GCUB), the Rio de Janeiro State Department of Education (Brazil), the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Ministry of Education of Cuba.

The Tan Kah Kee High Technology Research Institute was established jointly by Xiamen University and the city’s Science and Technology Bureau with the participation of local authorities. It performs functions to support the promotion and commercialisation of the university’s scientific results. Its main areas of activity also include the development of start-ups and innovative enterprises, as well as the integration of human, technological, financial, and service resources.
