China-SCO trade reaches US$247.7 billion in first half of 2025

Trade between China and other member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) totalled US$247.7 billion in the first six months of 2025, according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

China’s main exports to SCO partners included machinery and electrical products, automobiles and parts, garments, and chemicals. In return, imports were dominated by oil and gas, agricultural goods, coal, and ores. This is reported by
CGTN, a partner of TV BRICS.

Over the past five years, trade volumes have steadily risen, surpassing US$300 billion, US$400 billion, and US$500 billion milestones, and reaching a record US$512.4 billion in 2024, up 2.7 per cent from the previous year.

Investment ties have also deepened. By June 2025, China’s direct investment stock in SCO countries exceeded US$40 billion, covering projects in energy, mining, and infrastructure, as well as newer fields such as digital technologies and green development.

Chinese enterprises are also strengthening cooperation with SCO members in 5G, the internet, and smart city projects, supporting industrial transformation and modernisation across the region.
