China strengthens economic ties with Iran as trade reaches US$13.4 billion

China views Iran as an increasingly attractive destination for industrial investment, with experts and officials calling for deeper cooperation between the two nations. This is reported by
Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to the official data, bilateral trade between Iran and China reached US$13.4 billion last year and could grow significantly through enhanced collaboration across key industrial sectors.

Former Economy Minister Ehsan Khandouzi stressed the importance of deepening Iran’s engagement with eastern partners, pointing out that closer ties with China can help improve the economy. China’s network of more than 58 million private factories provides flexible and diverse investment models that could contribute to Iran’s sustainable economic growth, he stated.

Hamed Vafaei, a professor of Chinese studies at the University of Tehran, said the relationship between Tehran and Beijing requires further transformation and mutual understanding. He described Iran as an “indispensable partner” in China’s long-term development strategy, emphasising the potential for cooperation in trade, technology, and industrial modernisation.
