Chinese Vice President urges China and Peru to strengthen cooperation under the ‘Belt and Road’ framework

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Peru

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Wednesday urged China and Peru to further strengthen political mutual trust, provide reliable guarantee for practical cooperation, and promote high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road cooperation framework to lift bilateral relations to a new height.

Han made the remarks at a meeting with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

He noted that in more than half a century since the two sides established diplomatic relations, bilateral ties have stood the test of the changing international situation, as reported by
Xinhua News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Peru, the vice president described Peru as China’s preferred cooperation partner for the Global Development Initiative (GDI), saying the Chinese side is willing to work with Peru to achieve deeper and more substantial results in promoting the GDI.

According to Han, the Chinese side is also willing to work closely with Peru in multilateral platforms to uphold the common interests of developing countries and ensure a more just and equitable international order.

Boluarte said bilateral relations with China are developing steadily and cooperation between the two countries has great potential.

She said her country welcomes investment from Chinese companies, and added that Peru is willing to maintain close high-level exchanges with China and develop practical cooperation in various fields.
