Cuba and the United Arab Emirates signed cooperation agreements

The two presidents pledged to bring economic, trade and financial relations to the same level as political relations

Cuba and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed co-operation agreements in various sectors, paving the way for a new stage in deepening bilateral ties. This is reported by
Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

Cuban Foreign Ministry spokesman Carlos Miguel Pereira, in statements on the meeting between the Caribbean country’s Presidents Miguel Diaz-Canel and the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, noted the importance of the agreements.

Pereira called the meeting the previous day historic, not only because it was the first visit of a Cuban president to the UAE, but also because the two sides pledged to bring economic, commercial and financial relations to the same level as political relations.

He said that among the documents signed were an agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments and an agreement aimed at avoiding double taxation, which are important to support the business sector in its investment in this country.

In addition, agreements were signed on climate change, tourism, science and technology and sports.

Pereira said that during the visit of Diaz-Canel other agreements could be signed, particularly those related to business exchanges and possible business deals.
