The Democratic Alliance (DA) says it has pulled out all the stops for victory in the Sol Plaatjie Municipality’s Ward 1 by-elections on Friday in Kimberley.
The party’s Second Deputy Federal Chairperson Solly Malatsi has led an election campaign event in Roodepan.
The Ward 1 by election this week in the hung municipality comes after the resignation of the Patriotic Alliance councilor.
Malatsi says he’s confident that, if elected, the DA councillor would bring changes in the ward.
“When you look at the conditions in the ward – is sad. The state of the affairs you got sewer flowing in the streets, you can see the despair in the faces of the young people – young faces are desperate for jobs here. Poverty is a major issue and there is just a general collapse of basic service delivery – it’s important for people’s dignity that there are services – that there are municipality functions and in order for that to happen -you need the right leaders in those municipalities,” says Malatsi.
