Dubai airport expects to set a new record for passenger numbers this year

The region recognises that tourism is a bright spot for economic development

Dubai is well positioned to surpass its record passenger traffic this year and surpass the pre-pandemic figure in 2023, CEO of Dubai Airport said. This is reported by
Pretoria News, a partner of TV BRICS.

Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest in terms of international passenger numbers, will reach 87 million visits in 2023, surpassing the 2019 figure of 86.4 million. Chief Executive Officer Paul Griffiths cited the early recovery of Dubai, the business and financial centre of the United Arab Emirates, from the pandemic as key factors.

Dubai Airport’s official forecast for this year is 88.8 million passengers, slightly short of the record.

“We’ve demonstrated the absolute resilience of the network that we operate,” said Griffiths, adding that Dubai’s airport serves 104 countries via 102 airlines.”

He noted that the region recognises that travel and tourism is a fantastic driver of economic growth, and furthermore it is not competition but cooperation and complementarity.
