Egypt launches free screening programme to detect various diseases
Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population launched the second phase of a free screening programme to detect and treat diseases such as schistosomiasis, fasciola and intestinal parasites. The initiative is in line with the country’s sustainable development goals and the Egypt 2030 vision.
According to Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, the goal is to eradicate schistosomiasis by 2025. The plan includes dividing the governorates into two groups to focus on early detection and treatment of patients.
The survey began in early July and will continue for three months. Positive cases will receive free treatment at health centres in the targeted areas. This is reported by
Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.
