Egypt launches several initiatives to develop infrastructure and data management

The government is actively introducing AI into various structures and projects

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications aims to create an environment favourable to the development of artificial intelligence. During a workshop on generative artificial intelligence and its impact on institutional development, Amr Talaat, Assistant Minister of Communications and Information Technology, outlined several initiatives by the state in the field of infrastructure development and data management. This is reported by

He also highlighted the state’s co-operation with international companies in supporting start-ups and building digital capabilities across the country.

Khaled El-Attar, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Administrative Development and Digital Transformation, said that the ministry is working to create an enabling environment for artificial intelligence, protecting the interests of all stakeholders and ensuring effective governance.

He mentioned working on developing legislation regarding the use of data, investing in human resources, increasing Egyptians’ participation in outsourcing, developing codes of ethics for artificial intelligence, and implementing pilot projects in the judiciary and other service sectors.

Ahmed Tantawi, Advisor to the Minister of Communications and Head of the Centre for Applied Innovation at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, spoke about the development of artificial intelligence, which began in the 1950s with data processing and included software capabilities for prediction and decision support. He noted the challenge of developing artificial intelligence languages to create robust applications with minimal errors.
