Egypt outlines national strategy to stabilise pharmaceutical supply and expand emergency pharmacy network

As part of these reforms, 29 new Emergency Pharmacy branches have been established nationwide

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has unveiled a national strategy aimed at strengthening the stability of the domestic pharmaceutical market and enhancing emergency pharmacy services across the country. This is reported by
Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to Health Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the strategy focuses on maintaining the uninterrupted availability of critical and strategic pharmaceuticals. It includes real-time monitoring of drug stocks, strict oversight of production lines, and enforcement measures to prevent unjustified stockpiling.

As part of these reforms, 29 new emergency pharmacy branches have been established nationwide. A revised horizontal distribution model has also been deployed to supply high-demand medicines to 28,000 pharmacies.

Additional service points have been activated, and partnerships with private pharmacies have been initiated to improve accessibility and reduce patient congestion.
